Position Details:

Pay: $16.00–$18.00 per hour

Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred, but not required

Responsibilities:

• Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and medication information
• Assist providers with patient examinations and procedures
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment
• Administer injections and medications as directed by the provider
• Perform point-of-care testing and collect specimens as needed
• Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, and other clinical workflows
• Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other members of the healthcare team
• Answer patient questions and assist with follow-up needs
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all applicable healthcare regulations

Qualifications:

• Previous medical assistant experience required
• CMA certification preferred, but not required
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly organized Family Practice Front Desk Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires proficiency in medical office operations, familiarity with electronic health records (Athena) systems, and the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish. The receptionist will support clinical staff by handling patient intake, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and medical documentation review, ensuring smooth clinic operations and compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.

Responsibilities:

• Greet patients warmly and professionally in both English and Spanish, establishing a welcoming environment.
• Schedule patient appointments accurately using our EMR system, Athenahealth.
• Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and other third-party payers.
• Collect patient demographic information and perform insurance verification procedures.
• Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently while maintaining confidentiality of medical records in compliance with HIPAA standards.
• Review documentation for accuracy and completeness related to care plans, medical records, and billing documentation.
• Maintain organized filing systems for medical records and office documents using Microsoft Office tools or other office management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
• Assist clinical staff with administrative support tasks such as data entry, documentation review, and office management duties.
• Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations including HIPAA guidelines during daily operations.

Requirements:

• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is a plus.
• Prior experience working in a medical office setting or clinic environment is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with medical billing, coding (ICD-9/10, CPT), insurance verification, and Medicare procedures.
